Light of the South

南國之光

Loading

Light of the South brings together 47 works from the Taipei Fine Arts Museum collection that are in the public domain under Taiwan's Copyright Act — oil paintings, folding screens, Eastern gouache, ink painting, watercolour and calligraphy made mostly between the 1900s and the 1940s — with 21 virtual loans shown through images the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts has released in its Public Domain section, among them Huang Tu-shui's Water Buffaloes. A prologue, The South, and four chapters — Local Colour; New Ways of Seeing; Island of Watercolour; Brush and Ink — unfold along the route through the two-storey hall. Images follow the files each collection publishes and every data point carries its source.
